Dr John (Kobi) Karalus was a GP for 30 years but has had a long association with travel medicine. For the last 15 years he has been doing this exclusively bar a few pilot medicals as a CAA Medical Examiner and a few sessions per week of Occupational Health at Whangarei Hospital.

Travel medical experience includes:

  • Worked several years starting in 1976 at Sir Edmund Hillary's hospital at Phaplu in Nepal and still makes trips to that area

  • Worked for International Committee of Red Cross Thai Kampuchean Border 1980

  • Base Medical Officer at RNZAF Base Ohakea 1981

  • Royal flying Doctor Service 1984-1986 Kimberley Western Australia

  • Attends travel medicine conferences yearly to keep up to date

  • Is an Accredited Yellow Fever Vaccine Provider

  • Works at Central Family Healthcare Tuesdays and Thursdays and is happy to help you out with various travel health issues.
